I have been teaching online lessons via Skype for nearly eight years. With the onset of the pandemic, online lessons have become a popular option. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your online lessons.

How will I obtain music books for my lesson?
- High speed internet service.
- Computer or tablet with a webcam and microphone.
- A tall shelf, computer desk or sturdy music stand on which to position your computer for the best view of you and the keyboard.
- A quiet place for your lessons – no TV or noisy siblings in the background, please.
- Pencil, or pen and colored pencils or highlighters.
- Stickers for students to indicate passed pieces and assignments. Both kids and adults enjoy a little visual recognition on their music.
What is different about Skype lessons?
- Since there is a delay in the connection I will not be able to count along with you while you play.
- I will demonstrate passages with counting.
- You need to be willing to count aloud (or say note names aloud) for yourself during the lesson.
- We will rely on your CD's for duets because of the delay in the connection.
- You will be making notes on your music as I direct or as you think you need to. You will definitely mark the date and circle page numbers so you know your assignment for the week.
- Skype students pay online via Paypal.
- I will email you an invoice the last week of each month.
- The invoice will include a link to pay via Paypal.
- Payment is due by the the last business day of the last week of the month for the following month.
How will theory work?
- Once you finish your written theory assignment, please take a picture of each page and email or text it to me.
Do you have any testimonials from your Skype students?

How will I obtain music books for my lesson?
- I will email you a link or specific information for you to order your own music.
- If I have supplementary music for you that I have purchased via a studio license, I will email that music to you as an email attachment.
